News Americas, SAO PAULO, Brazil, Fri. Jan. 4, 2013: The Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte is ready to host the FIFA World Cup in 2014.
The stadium was closed for a revamp for the past two and a half years. It was reopened last Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 and will also host the Confederations Cup matches this year.
It is one of four stadiums outside of Rio de Janeiro where football will be played in the 2016 Olympics.
The stadium has 64 thousand seats, 90 box seats, a restaurant with a view of the field and VIP area lounges. The parking area has 2.8 thousand spaces.
Among the amenities of the New Mineirão is the roof equipped with technology to capture solar energy and transform it into electricity. In addition, rainwater is reused.
