News Americas, BRASILIA, Brazil, Weds. June 9, 2011: The chief of staff to Brazil’s President, Dilma Rousseff, has called it quits.

Antonio Palocci has resigned over corruption allegations. His resignation comes only six months after Rousseff took office.

The Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper reported Mr Palocci’s net worth was 20 times greater than it had been four years ago.

Palocci, who ran a political consultancy while serving in the Brazilian Congress, has denied any wrongdoing. But he said he resigned over concern the scandal could weaken President Rousseff.
