News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Oct. 12, 2018: Days after the West Indies cricket team took an embarrassing shellacking at the hands of India, a West Indies player on Thursday said the team is ready to fight back as they head into the second test match today, Oct. 12th.
West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase said on Thursday the West Indies is looking to come back fighting in the second Test against India after their humiliating inning and 272-run defeat at the hands of India in Rajkot.
The West Indies side was crushed in their opening test against India on Saturday, Oct. 6th. It was the host side their largest-ever victory in a test match.
The second test match is opens today, Friday, Oct. 12th and is set to run through Tuesday, Oct. 16th in Hyderabad.
“We didn’t play well in the first game but are looking to fight back in the second,” Chase said a day ahead of the game in Hyderabad. “Had a bit of nervous energy in the first one but guys are good to go in the second.”
The team for today’s test is: West Indies: Jason Holder (C), Kieran Powell, Kraigg Brathwaite, Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, Jahmar Hamilton, Shai Hope, Shane Dowrich (WK), Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Jomel Warrican, Keemo Paul, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel, and Sherman Lewis.
Meanwhile, Windies selectors this week named the squads for the upcoming ODI and T20 international matches.
They are: West Indies’ ODI squad: Jason Holder (c), Fabian Allen, Sunil Ambris, Devendra Bishoo, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Ashley Nurse, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels and Oshane Thomas.
