News Americas, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fri. Sept. 1, 2011: Argentinean workers are set to benefit from a pay hike.
President Cristina Fernandez has agreed to a minimum wage increase of 25. This will make the average wage per month approximately US$550.
The minimum wage increase was the result of a brokered deal between business and union interests. The unions were seeking a 41 percent increase while business interests only wanted 18 percent. But The Minimum Wage Council brokered the deal that will be effective immediately.
