Bandits Shoot Guyana Opposition General Secretary

News Americas, GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Tues. Jan. 29, 2013: Oscar Clarke, the general secretary of the Guyana opposition party, People’s National Congress Reform, is being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for a bullet wound.

The PNCR in a statement tonight said Clarke was shot at about 8:45 pm Guyana time, attacked by bandits as he entered his home. No further details were available as of press time.

The Party called the incident “another example of the precarious crime situation which is facing Guyana at the moment.”
