News Americas, BRASILIA, Brazil, Thurs. Aug. 4, 2011: Brazil left back Alex Sandro is out of the Under-20 World Cup.
Sandro has been ruled out because of a muscle tear in his right thigh. He had to be replaced less than 15 minutes into Brazil’s 3-0 victory against Austria on Monday.
The injury comes following his recovery from a similar injury just before the tournament in Colombia began last week.
Brazil doctor Edilson Thiele said in a statement Wednesday that Sandro will be sidelined for up to six weeks because of the injury.
Brazil leads their Group E category with four points, along with Egypt.
