News Americas, BROOKLYN, NY, Mon. May 12, 2014: Caribbean mothers were treated to a great treat at Brooklyn College, in Brooklyn, NY, Saturday May 10, 2014 as Everybody’s Magazine, the oldest Caribbean American magazine in the US, held it’s annual Mother’s Day concert.

Some of the biggest calypso icons performed for their fans and the mothers who were brought or came by themselves had a good time Caribbean style. The Mighty Sparrow, the calypso king of the world, who earlier this year was said to be dead, had them dancing and singing in their seats.

His voice sounded sweeter as he stood and sang with his cane in hand for support. As he did a little of his trademark wining, the ladies in the audience laughed and clapped, knowing when he was in good health, he was the best at that.

The Mighty Shadow, walked on stage with his head high, and from there his performance was great as only the Shadow could do.

King Short Shirt, from Antigua, had the audience singing and dancing, until a male fan couldn’t take it anymore and jumped on stage to sing and dance with him. However, security quickly escorted him off the stage.

The Queen of Calypso, Calypso Rose, at 74-years-old, with knee problems and a pace-maker recently put in, could not be stopped. She ended the show thanking Everybody’s magazine and the audience of about a 1,000 plus for coming, as they left singing and dancing, her “Fire, Fire, in Yuh Wire, Wire.”
