News Americas, HOUSTON, TX, Sun. June 14, 2026: As Curaçao prepares to make history Sunday as the smallest nation ever to compete in a FIFA World Cup, the Caribbean island is bringing its vibrant culture, music, and flavors to Houston – with the launch of the Blue Wave Village.
The Curaçao Tourist Board and Curoil have created the Blue Wave Village as a free gathering space for Curaçao supporters and football fans in Houston to celebrate the island’s historic debut against Germany at 1 p.m. today. Following the match, festivities will continue at the Blue Wave Village – with fans able to watch the Netherlands vs Japan match on a giant screen while celebrating Curaçao’s historic moment.
Admission is free but registration is required at curacaotouristboard.com. Registration is limited to one ticket per person and is available only to those who have purchased match tickets through FIFA.
Curaçao – a nation of just over 150,000 people – went undefeated in all 10 World Cup qualifying matches to earn their place in history. They face Germany, Ecuador and Côte d’Ivoire in Group E.
“The United States is one of Curaçao’s strongest tourism markets,” CTB Managing Director Muryad de Bruin said at a press conference announcing the initiative. The Blue Wave Village is an extension of the Blue Nation concept – celebrating Curaçao’s culture and national pride on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
Register free at curacaotouristboard.com. Capacity is limited.
