Team Jamaica Bickle, founded by Jamaican and American immigrant advocate Irwine Clare, Sr., O.D., turns 25 years this year and has spent the last two plus decades catering to the basic needs of Jamaican and Caribbean athletes at the Penn Relays.

Jamaica first female Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, O.N., M.P., will be presented with the TJB Chairman’s Award, according to the organization’s founder, on April 1st from 6:30 p.m. at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

Simpson Miller first became Jamaica’s seventh Prime Minister in March 2006 and served through September 2007. Simpson Miller was elected to the office again in January 2012 and served until March 2016. In 2012, as Prime Minister of Jamaica, she became the first foreign head of state to visit TJB at the Penn Relays.

TJB began in 1994 as a small group at the annual relays, and has since expanded to include serving Caribbean athletes from a number of other nations, including Trinidad & Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Guyana.
