Guyanese Wanted Over Dead Monkeys

New Americas, LOS ANGELES, CA, Mon. Sept. 12, 2011: A Guyanese man is wanted in Los Angeles for animal cruelty after 15 monkeys were found dead at Los Angeles International Airport.

Akhtar Hussain, a Guyana supplier, is wanted by prosecutors and is believed to be in Guyana. He faces up to six months in jail and a $20,000 fine if convicted for animal cruelty along with his partner, Florida-based wild animal broker Robert Matson Conyers, 44.

Conyers appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court last Wednesday and faced 10 counts of animal cruelty.

The monkeys were en route to Thailand from Guyana when they died at LAX.
