News Americas, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Mon. Dec. 6, 2011: Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, is urging Jamaicans to ensure the Dec. 29th elections is peaceful.

Holness called for an incident-free campaign, just days after he announced the election date on Sunday night.

Holness’ Jamaica Labor Party is hoping to retain the government but will face competition from the Peoples National Party.

He was handed the reins to the country in September, following the sudden resignation of Prime Minister Bruce Golding on the heels of controversy over the delayed extradition of self-confessed drug lord, Christopher “Dudus” Coke.
