News Americas, BERLIN, Germany, Weds. July 6, 2011: A yacht sailing with 60 million dollars worth of cocaine from Grenada has been intercepted by German police.

Police in Germany said Tuesday that the boat with two Germans aboard had been sailing from the island of Grenada and was stopped last week by French customs authorities.

Some 1.1 tons of cocaine was found hidden in the 43-foot (13-meter) yacht, and the two were arrested.

A South African man who was supposed to skipper the boat across the Atlantic was arrested Tuesday in the Caribbean while a Dutch man was arrested Tuesday in Spain.

Authorities say the bust was part of an investigation begun in 2009 with French and Spanish authorities.
