Powell Out Of 4×100 Relay

News Americas, DAEGU, Korea, Fri. Sept. 2, 2011: The world’s former fastest man continues to be hampered by a groin injury that has now forced him out of another race in Daegu.

Powell’s agent, Paul Doyle, told the Associated Press, Thursday that the top athlete choose to stay out of the race since it would be too much of a risk for the team if he were to pull up lame during the event in which Jamaica is a favorite for gold.

The heats are Friday and the final is Saturday.

“It would be too much of a risk to the team,” Doyle told the AP. “Asafa does not want that responsibility on his shoulders.”

Powell also pulled out of the 100-m race last week.
