News Americas, TAMPA, FL, Tues. June 28, 2011: Recently convicted Jamaican-born reggae singer, Buju Banton, says he intends to turn a negative into a positive, following a drug conviction on June 23rd.
The singer, according to the Jamaica Sunday Observer, insists that he will spend the next 10 years in jail, studying for a master’s degree in political science and economics.
Banton, born Mark Anthony Myrie, told the paper in an exclusive interview that he is already attending classes inside the Pinellas County Jail in Tampa.
“I am already going to classes. I have passed the acceptance test and I will be studying political science and economics,” Myrie was quoted as saying in a telephone interview.
The singer, 38, also said he will appeal the judgment in the drug case.
