Grammy-winning reggae star Stephen Marley is among the artists set for the ‘Reggae Unda Di Stars’ kick-off concert on the grounds of the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, NY.

News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. Aug. 31, 2017: The 50th anniversary celebration of the New York West Indian American Day carnival kick off weekend will begin with a massive reggae concert tonight.

Grammy-winning reggae star Stephen Marley is among the artists set for the ‘Reggae Unda Di Stars’ kick-off concert on the grounds of the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, NY. Other artists slated to perform from 7 p.m. tonight, August 31st, include Cocoa Tea; Ghanian Dancehall Reggae artist, Stonebwoy and Brooklyn’s own Afrobeat songstress WUNMI and Dajah.

The event is being hosted by Irie Jam Radio and backed by Derrick Barnett & Statement Band, DJ Roy of Road International, Cali B and Max Glazer and Kenny Meez of Federation Sound. Tickets start at $60 and can be obtained here.

The West Indian American carnival will continue Friday night, Sept. 1 with Brassfest featuring T Soca Ambassadors, The All Stars, Blaxx, 2017 Party Monarch King Ricardo Drue, Teddyson John, Tizzy, Lyrikal, Farmer Nappy, 2017 Road March King, Problem Child, Lavaman, Sedale, Motto,  2017 Road March King, MX Prime, King Bubba and the Rayzor & Request Band and Elizabeth Watley & Outta Limitz Band.

On Saturday, September 2nd its time for the Junior Carnival followed by the annual Panorama 2017 showcase in the evening.

On Sunday, September 3rd the Dimanche Gras finale includes Calypso Ambassadors – The Calypso King of the World, The Mighty Sparrow, Queen Calypso Rose, King David Rudder, Swallow (Antigua), Ras Iley (Barbados) and Dane Gulston steel pan virtuoso along with the King & Queen of the Bands costume presentations.

On Monday, September 4th,  the event will culminate with the Caribbean Carnival Parade on the Eastern Parkway from 11am – 6 pm.
