News Americas, TORREON, Mexico, Weds. Aug. 17, 2011: Santos Laguna scored a 3-2 victory over Real Espana Tuesday night in the opening Group Stage of the CONCACAF Champions League.
Second-half substitute Christian Suarez scored in the 74th minute to give Santos the clincher they needed.
Juan Carlos Enriquez and Sergio Bica scored earlier, giving Santos their two first goals.
It was Santos’ 13th victory in 14 home games in the Champions League and gave it the early lead in Group B, which also includes the Colorado Rapids and Isidro Metapan.
