Serena Williams Drubs By Schiavone To Advance At U.S. Open

News Americas, FLUSHING, NY, Mon. Aug. 26, 2013: U.S. Open defending women’s champion, Serena Williams, advanced at the U.S. Open Monday with a drubbing of former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone – 6-0, 6-1.

Williams finished with 13 winners and eight unforced errors in an hour-long match that even sent her opponent in search of a hug from a ball boy.

“I definitely was good off the ground,” Serena said. “But I tell you, it wasn’t very easy out there. We were both grunting and running and fighting. I just wanted to stay really focused out there.”

Next up for Williams is Kazakhstan’s Galina Voskoboeva. Among the celebrities cheering at the match were Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikas.
