News Americas, Los Angeles, California, Mon. Nov. 18, 2013: Jamaica’s Tessanne Chin delivered attitude and a wide ranging vocal performance of Gladys Knight’s “If I Were Your Woman” as she took the stage of The Voice Top 10 Monday night, Nov. 15th.
With the world’s male athlete of the year, fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt in the audience to help cheer her on, Chin made the song her own with a diverse vocal range that fans have come to expect each week.
The performance left her dad screaming his appreciation as Bolt blew whistles.
Coach Adam Levine, who selected the song for Chin, insisted the performance solidified her presence on the show “as a major contender” while Christina Aguilera added: ” I would love to hear more moments like this ..the different dimensions on your voice.. the different elements of you.”
But while Chin again shone, it is undeniable that the competition has become stiffer with the other 9 contestants also delivering great performances.
Austin Jenckes of Team Blake Delivered a solid performance of “Your Love,” much to the glee of his coaCh who gave him a standing ovation while the show’s youngest performer, Jacquie Lee gave a good rendition of “Clarity.”
Will Champlin from Team Adam also shone brightly on “Love Me Again by John Newman of the UK While Caroline Pennell of Team Ceelo’s “Leaving On A Jet Plane,” by John Denver showed a consistently quality performance.
Cole Vosbury of Team Blake”s “To Be With You,” ” nailed it to the wall” for his coach while Ray Bodreaux “showed growth” on “You Are The Best Thing.”
James Wolpert delivered an emotionally stirring performance which his coach, Levine “amazing” while Team Ceelo’s Kat Robichaud delivered song, performance and staging on her rendition of “We Belong.”
Matthew Schuler from Team Christina closed out the night with “Beneath You Are Beautiful,” a performance that Levine called “amazing” and his coach said blew her away.
