Trinidad’s Nicki Minaj Wins First VMA’s

News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Aug. 29, 2011: Trinidad-born rapper, Nicki Minaj, has won her first Video Music Awards.

Minaj, looking like a complete mess at the VMA’s, an ice cream necklace to booth, walked away with the 2011 MTV VMA’s for Best Hip-Hop video for her Billboard Top 10 hit “Super Bass.”

The Harajuku Barbie beat out Chris Brown “Look at Me Now,” Kanye West “All of the Lights,” Lupe Fiasco “The Show Goes On,” and even her Young Money mentor Lil Wayne’s “6 Foot 7 Foot.”
