News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Sept. 13, 2013: Trinidad-born rapper, Nicki Minaj, is being accused of ripping-off of the beat an original song and using it on her hit song “Starships.”
Clive Tanaka, an underground artist, is suing Minaj, claiming the rapper stole his ‘Neu Chicago!’ beat and simply made it her own.
Starships” set a Billboard record for its stretch of 21 consecutive weeks in the Top 10.
Tanaka is also suing the song’s three credited writers, and a producer over the alleged beat thievery.
