News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. June 6, 2016: Jamaica’s hope of beating Venezuela in their Copa America opener was quashed Sunday afternoon in just 24 minutes.

The Reggae Boyz lost their first of three matches 0-1 at the Soldier Field in Chicago, IL despite a valiant effort.

Venezuela’s Josef Martinez scored the lone goal of the match as the Venezuelan team managed to hold off the 10-man Jamaica squad to win in Copa America Centenario’s Group C opener.

The Jamaican will now need to beat CONCACAF rivals Mexico for any hope of advancing to the knockout rounds.
