News Americas, FLUSHING, NY, Weds. Sept. 3, 2014: Caroline Wozniacki, one of just two Top 10 seeds left in the draw sailed into the semifinals with a 6-0, 6-1 drubbing of the underpowered 13th seed Sara Errani of Italy Tuesday night.
With a chance to reach her second US Open final, the 24-year-old Dane, the 10th seed, advances to play the unexpected, unseeded semifinalist Peng Shuai.
“It means so much to me,” said Wozniacki about returning to the US Open semifinals for the first time since 2011. “It’s been kind of an up-and-down year for me. Definitely, the hard work pays off.”
