News Americas, PHILADELPHIA, PA, Weds. May 23, 2018: Several Caribbean nationals were among over four dozen immigrants iced by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents recently in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia.

Among the total foreign nationals arrested over a seven targeted enforcement operation by ICE were at least four Caribbean immigrants, including two Jamaicans, one Haitian and one from the Dominican Republic.

A 27-year-old Jamaican man remains in ICE custody without bond pending immigration proceedings after he was arrested on May 19thin Philadelphia for having a conviction for possession of firearms.

Another Jamaican, a 40-year-old, previously deported man, will remain in ICE custody pending deportation. He has a conviction for possession with intent to distribute, marijuana, for which he was sentenced to 37 months incarceration. USA, LLC

Also in ICE custody without bond, pending immigration proceedings is a 26-year-old undocumented Haitian man. He had been convicted in the Common Pleas Court at Philadelphia, of robbery, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, and criminal attempt-theft by unlawful taking and was sentenced to a maximum of 23 months confinement.

ICE also arrested a 40-year-old, previously deported Dominican Republic man in Philadelphia who has a conviction for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, heroin, for which he was sentenced to 41 months confinement.  He will be served with a notice to reinstate prior removal order and his case has been presented to the United States Attorney’s Office for possible prosecution. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal.

According to ICE, 17 of the 49 arrested had criminal convictions while 14 have pending criminal charges.

Six had been previously removed from the United States and subsequently illegally re-entered. while14 were immigration fugitives with outstanding final orders of removal issued by a federal immigration judge.

Additionally, 14 of those arrested were previously released from Philadelphia County custody, despite having an ICE detainer lodged against them.
