Jamaica
Coming in at 14th globally and ranking as the number one and only Caribbean island on the Top 20 list of World’s Top Destinations is Jamaica. Travelers rave about fact that there is a little of almost everything to do. From simply lying out in the sun, dipping in the ocean or walking on soft sand to dancing to reggae music to hiking Jamaica’s forests or bird watching; visiting the heritage sites of Trelawny or snorkeling and shopping in Montego Bay or experiencing the spas of Ocho Rios to melt your stress away. Yea mon, everything is alright!

Mexico
Coming in at 15th on the global list and number one for Latin America, is Playa del Carmen in Mexico. Visitors vote Playa del Carmen one of the top diving destinations in the world, thanks to vibrant sea life and dazzling underwater caverns. On dry land, Playa del Carmen is a hipper and more modern version of the fishing village it once was as visitors can spend quality time on the golf course or wave hello to the playful spider monkeys at The Jungle Place sanctuary or explore the ancient ruins of the Coba Mayan Village and shop along Playa’s 5th Avenue.
Peru
Peru’s Cusco made the global top 23 list, making it the second top country in Latin America. Visitors rave about the Incan majesty and Andean baroque that exist side-by-side in Cusco’s stone streets, epitomized by the Qoriacancha palace and the church of Santo Domingo flanking the Plaza de Armas. In this high-altitude melting pot of Amerindian and mestizo culture, you’ll find extraordinary textiles, lively summer festivals and archeological wonders.
Brazil
Coming in at 24th globally and third in Latin America is Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Visitors rave about the city’s plentiful beaches, dramatic mountains, and backdrop of samba and bossa nova rhythms. Ipanema Beach is still the place to stroll, sunbathe, and be seen but there is a lot more to see, including the largest Art Deco statue in the world, Christ the Redeemer, which beckons visitors to Corcovado Mountain and of course, Rio’s annual Carnaval celebrations, and its food and music year round.

Award winners were determined using an algorithm based on the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period, as well as traveler booking interest on TripAdvisor. The awards honor 402 outstanding destinations in 42 lists across the globe.
