News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Weds. Feb. 7, 2018: Former US President Bill Clinton believes that the Commonwealth island of Dominica can lead the Caribbean region as a clean energy producer.

Clinton’s comments came as he toured the hurricane ravaged island Tuesday and thanked the Government of Norway for allowing the Clinton Foundation, to participate in the effort of green energy.

“They believed when we first asked them that Dominica in particular, and the Caribbean in general, could lead the world to a whole new way of producing clean power, reducing the threat of climate change and improve the economy of developing countries,” Dominica News online quoted the former US President as saying.

“And they bought the argument I was making that the Caribbean could literally lead the way, that we have the chance to make it the first sustainable region to in the world and now the Prime Minister (Roosevelt Skerrit) has said at the beginning of his great speech at the UN that he wants Dominica to be the first totally climate resilient country on earth.”

The Clinton Foundation, at the invitation of the leaders of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Antigua & Barbuda, and Dominica, will formally convene its first open meeting on April 3rd at the University of Miami. There, its members will consider commitments to action, building on the Clinton Global Initiative model that stresses mobilization of resources to combat urgent global challenges.
