According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, at 11 a.m., the center of Hurricane Bertha was set to increase in forward speed  over the next 48 hours. It will continue to move away from The Bahamas today and pass about midway between the U.S. east coast and Bermuda on Tuesday.

Reports from NOAA/ National Weather Service and Air Force Hurricane Hunter Aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have increased to near 80 mph with higher gusts expected.
