Jamaican Tries To Slash Throat In Deportation Flight

News Americas, LONDON, England, Tues. June 21, 2011: A Jamaican migrant being deported back to his country reportedly tried to slash his own throat on board a plane at Gatwick airport.

A UK Border Agency spokesman said the man, an undocumented migrant, was being sent back to Jamaica on board Virgin Atlantic flight, VS69 when he tried to cut himself.

He was, however, reportedly treated by paramedics who “glued” together his throat wound and was treated for “superficial injuries” at hospital and discharged back into immigration custody, according to the UK Border Agency.

An investigation was being launched into the incident the agency added.

The flight was delayed to today, Tuesday, June 21.
