News Americas, LOS ANGELES, Weds. Nov. 26, 2014: Jamaican-born singer Anita Antoinette, unlike Tessanne Chin, never fully energized the Jamaican Diaspora of voters to rally behind her.
On Tuesday night, Nov. 25th, her run on NBC music reality show, The Voice, came to an end and with it hopes of another Jamaican win this season.
The Connecticut-based singer’s Monday night, Nov. 24th performance of “Let Her Go” may not have connected as much with voters as she along with fellow Gwen Stefanie teammate Ryan Sills and Team Blake Shelton’s Regan James scored the lowest votes after a nationwide count Tuesday night.
Singing for a last chance to stay in the contest, Antoinette, the daughter of reggae icon Clinton Fearon, choose to sing, ‘The Remedy,’ delivering a powerful, non-reggae performance that showed the range of her voice.
But it was not enough for Twitter voters and so the Berklee College of Music graduate and self-taught singer and guitarist was sent home along with James while fellow teammate Sills advanced into the Top 8 along with Team Blake’s Craig Wayne Boyd who scored the highest number of votes Tuesday.

The Top 8 will perform live on Monday Dec. 1st to advance to the Top 6. Others in the Top 8 is the entire cast from Team Adam Levine – Matt McAndrew, Chris Jameson and Damien as well as Team Pharrell’s Luke Wade and Danica Shirley. Stefanie still has one horse in the race along with Shelton. Taylor John Williams will represent Team Gwen Monday night.
