July 14, 2013: As the “not guilty” verdict in the George Zimmerman murder case continued to reverberate across the nation Sunday, the younger sister of Superstar singer, Beyonce Knowles, Solange, helped organize a rally at Brooklyn Borough Hall in protest of the verdict.

“I ask all of you here today to let this be a starting point on a long journey for equality,” Solange Knowles said as she carried a sign with a quote from the late Malcolm X that read: “I am for truth no matter who tells it. I’m for justice no matter who it’s for or against.”

Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain who was acquitted by a Florida court of murdering an unarmed black teenager could now face prosecution under Federal race-relations laws, the US Department Of Justice said Sunday night after it announced a review of his case.
President Barack Obama for his part issued a statement from the White House calling for calm on all sides while the Department Of Justice said federal prosecutors would now examine the case for a Federal prosecution under civil rights legislation.
