News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Sept. 26, 2016: On the heels of several Haitians in Miami throwing their support behind controversial Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, a Caribbean-born singer known for her conscious reggae lyrics has now stunned fans by claiming that she too is a Trump supporter.

Kingston, Jamaican-born singer Etana, whose real name is Shauna McKenzie and who also holds US citizenship, told Jamaican Television host Anthony Miller of ER that she is a Trump supporter and will be voting for the controversial Republican Presidential candidate come November 8, 2016.

“Yes I am a Trump supporter,” Etana, 33, told Miller in the interview aired on September 23, 2016, while defending The Donald as “not prejudiced.”

The singer says Trump’s point blank way of speaking and telling it like it is and not beating around the bush is why she is supporting him.

Etana, who made her debut with the album ‘The Strong One,’ in 2008, also said she agrees with Trump’s anti-Muslim and anti-immigration stance.

The interview stirred the ire of the singer’s mainly Jamaican fan base, who took to social media to deride her for throwing her support behind a man seen by many as a dumb, ignorant, racist, a demagogue, a xenophobe, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, anti-woman and anti-Islam.

“Personally speaking, I will never listen another song of yours!! Trump is America’s Hitler,” wrote Jamaican writer Janet Silvera in response to the interview of Facebook while others added:  “Embarrassed to say the least,” and “Painful that she has outed her consciousness as a lie…she is a fake.”

Trump’s ridiculous statements made this campaign season include Mexicans are rapists and criminals, women who seek abortions should be punished, and that Mexico should pay for a wall at the U.S. border. There’s no shortage of lists of the shocking things he’s said.

Here are some other actual comments that flowed from The Donald’s mouth in case you have forgotten:

“The Mexican Government is forcing their most unwanted people into the United States. They are, in many cases, criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc. … The Mexican government is sending the bad ones over because they don’t want to pay for them.”

“Well somebody’s doing the raping Don. I mean who’s doing the raping?” – This was in response to a question by CNN’s Don Lemon on evidence for his claim that Latino immigrants crossing the border were rapists.

“We need a wall. The king of building buildings, the king of building walls–none of them can build them like Donald Trump.”

“I’m opposed to new people coming in. We will have a wall [on the Mexican border]. The wall will be built. The wall will be successful. I’ll get Mexico to pay for it one way or the other. I guarantee you that.”

“Many killings, murders, crime, drugs are pouring across the border, our money is going out and the drugs coming in.”

“Sadly, the overwhelming amount of violent crime in our major cities is committed by blacks and Hispanics.”

And the classic…saying in a town hall meeting that “women should be punished for having an abortion” and releasing a statement “calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” while confirming that he would set up a database for Muslim-Americans.
