News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Mar. 18, 2016: A top Caribbean soca music star is suing a former Manchester United player for false advertisement.

Trinidad & Tobago 2016 Road March winner and Soca King, Machel Montano, is suring T&T-born UK soccer star and former national footballer Dwight Yorke. According to Montano, Yorke has falsely advertised that he is one of the performers at the annual Island Vibe fete in Tobago.

Montano says he is not and is seeking an injunction to prevent Yorke from further using his name and image in the advertisements to promote the event which took place last  Saturday at Pigeon Point in Tobago.

Justice Frank Seepersad, however, said that given that the event had already taken place,  it would be a waste of time to proceedand granted leave to Montano’s team of attorneys which was led by Larry Williams, to withdraw the notice of application for the injunction.

However, Montano says he will still be suing Yorke for damages. A date for the trial to begin will only be set when Yorke is served and files his defense, according to the Trinidad Guardian newspaper.
