News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. April 22, 2016: Two islands in the Caribbean and one in Latin America have made it on to the coveted top 10 islands in the world list this year.

The three making TripAdvisor’s 2016 Travelers’ Choice awards for islands list of 2016 are:

1: Jamaica

The Caribbean island that gave the world reggae music and jerk cuisine grabbed the number three spot this year. The island was not on the list last year. Many of Jamaica’s all-inclusive resorts are clustered in the vibrant Montego Bay while Kingston is home to the Bob Marley Museum.

2: Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos last year grabbed the top spot but was sent tumbling to fourth place this year as Maui moved up to number one. “Provo” covers an area of 38 miles and is the most developed island in Turks and Caicos.

 3: Fernando de Noronha, Brazil

It’s not a destination in the South American nation many hear about a lot but Fernando de Noronha is indeed an island about 350 kilometers off Brazil’s northeast coast. It’s named after its largest island, a protected national marine park and ecological sanctuary with a jagged coastline and diverse ecosystems and is renowned for its undeveloped beaches, and for scuba diving and snorkeling. Sea turtles, rays, dolphins and reef sharks swim in its warm, clear waters of this volcanic archipelago.

The travel review and booking site selected its Travelers’ Choice island award winners based on the quality and quantity of user reviews over 12 months.

“In addition to their truly magnificent landscapes, the Travelers’ Choice Islands are home to highly rated hotels, restaurants and attractions, and are brimming with unique culture,” said TripAdvisor spokeswoman Julie Cassetina.

The world’s full top 10 are:
