News Americas, RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Weds. May 18, 2016:  Ten countries including one in the Caribbean and seven in Latin America have blatantly rejected the new Senate-imposed presidency of Lebanese descendant Michel Temer in Brazil. According to TeleSur, they are:

1: Cuba

2: Venezuela

3: Nicaragua

4: El Salvador

5: Ecuador

6: Bolivia

7: Uruguay

8: Chile

9: Russia

10: China

All of the countries have refused to recognize the new government with some calling it a “coup.”

Dilma Rousseff was removed as President of Brazil after the country’s Senate voted 55 to 22 on May 12th to remove her as head of state and move forward with impeachment. Rousseff is accused of doctoring the federal budget to hide huge deficits. Rousseff is also under fire over a graft scandal at state oil company Petrobras, where she was the manager before taking office as president in 2010. She has denied any wrong doing.

Temer will run the presidency as a full-pledge president for those 180 days. So far, he has been criticized for naming an all White, all-male cabinet that is vastly different from Rousseff’s.
Temer is the former vice president of Brazil and a member of the opposition PMDB party who is implicated in Brazil’s massive corruption scandal involving state-owned oil company Petrobras.
