News Americas, BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Fri. Oct. 7, 2011: Northwestern Argentina was yesterday rattled by a quake but there were no immediate reports of serious damage or injury.

The magnitude-6.2 earthquake hit the provinces of Jujuy and Salta at a relatively shallow depth Thursday at 8:12 a.m.

Some of the strongest shaking was felt in San Pedro, a small town about 40 miles (63 kilometers) from the epicenter.

It sent school children and people running out of buildings as it cracked windows and toppled furniture.
