News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. April 22, 2016: Social media, especially Facebook has become all the rage globally, including in the Caribbean region. Here are the nations with the most nationals on Facebook according to the latest data from Internet World Stats.

1: Dominican Republic

In the lead is the Spanish Caribbean Island of the Dominican Republic with a whopping 2.8 million Facebook registered users as of late 2015. Still that’s only about 35 percent of the country’s population and less than half of those with access to Internet.

2: Puerto Rico

Coming in at second is U.S. Caribbean territory Puerto Rico. Over 1.2 million Puerto Ricans are reportedly on Facebook but that’s just 15 percent of the total population but about half of those with Internet service.

3: Jamaica

With 677,960 on Facebook, Jamaica has the third largest number of FB users across the Caribbean. But it’s still just under half of those who have online access.

4: Trinidad & Tobago

In the fourth spot is the twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago with 484,780 FB users. Like other Caribbean nations in the top three, T&T’s Facebook users are under half of those nationals with Internet service.

5: Haiti

Round out the top five is Haiti with 202,660 Facebook users. But it’s a mere drop in the bucket compared to the 1,2 plus million Haitians with Internet access in the nation of close to 10 million people.
