Caribbean Soca Star Wins Soul Train Music Award

News Americas, LAS VEGAS, Nevada, Mon. Nov. 10, 2014: Caribbean Soca ‘King’ Machel Montano has added a Soul Train Music Award to his list of honors.

Montano on Friday night walked away with the Best International Performance award at the star studded event at the Orleans Arena stage in Las Vegas for his “Ministry Of Road (M.O.R.)”.

The Trinidad & Tobago-born soca singer beat out Nigerian artist Davido, Shaggy Featuring Neyo, Sam Smith and Ziggy Marley to take the top honor.

“The 3’s have it! 3rd time’s a charm!,” Montano said on Instagram, referring to the fact that it was his third nomination. “In the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, I give thanks!!!! Trinidad and Tobago this one is for u! Thank u to the creator, my Parents and brother, my Kids, my friends, fans and supporters! All those who voted and played a role this is a triumphant moment for us, for soca for T&T and the Caribbean. We did it again! To all those behind the Ministry Of Road!!!! I give thanks!”

Chris BrownTinashe, a reunited Jodeci and others were among the artists who performed at the 2014 Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas.

BET and Centric will air the 2014 Soul Train Awards on Nov. 30 at 8 P.M. EST.
