Usain Bolt is set to retire after the London World Champs this summer.

News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. July 28, 2017: The countdown is on to the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London. The event will see top athletes from across the Caribbean compete with those from around the world between August 4th and 13th at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

Double Olympic sprint champions Usain Bolt and Elaine Thompson lead a Jamaican squad of 56 to the Championships. All eyes are on Bolt who has said he will retire after this event.

Other top Jamaican athletes set to take center stage in London are Yohan Blake, Warren Weir, Senoj-Jay Givans, Omar McLeod, Shericka Jackson, Novlene Williams-Mills and Yanique Thompson.

Caribbean athletes from Cuba, The Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada will also compete.  Roxana Gomez will be part of the Cuban squad while 21 athletes will represent The Bahamas including Olympian Shaunae Miller-Uibo as well as Teray Smith and Steven Gardiner.

Trinidad & Tobago will be represented by a 23-strong team including two-time Olympic medallist Keshorn Walcott and sprint sensation Michelle-Lee Ahye.

Grenadian sensation Kirani James is out of his country’s squad this year as he recovers from an illness.
