News Americas, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, Fri. Oct. 30, 2015: More than a dozen people with injuries were transported to a hospital, and one had serious burns after an airline that flies to the South American nations of Guyana and Venezuela caught fire in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Thursday.

Passengers were forced to evacuate Dynamic International Airways’ Boeing 767 headed for Venezuela after the plane’s engine caught fire about 12:45 p.m. on the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport runway, officials said.

Operations at Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) were suspended temporarily due to the fire emergency on the field, the FAA said in a statement

The U.S. agency also said the plane had experienced a fuel leak before takeoff.

The Greensboro, North Carolina-based carrier said on its website that it has operated wide-body aircraft since 2009. Dynamic started flying to Guyana and now Venezuela earlier this year.

Via twitter the company said the passengers are safe and were evacuated and the problem occurred while the plane was “taxiing for an on time departure from Fort Lauderdale to Caracas” and the “crew became aware of an engine problem.”

Without referring to the fire or injured passenger, Dynamic said it “is currently arranging accommodation and transportation for all passengers impacted  by the “flight disruption” and “ expects to continue operation as per the schedule” starting today, October 30th 2015.
