June 24, 2012: Queens Team #1 defeated a combined Bronx/Manhattan team to take the title and bragging rights in the Mayor’s Cup Cricket Championship match, held on Saturday June 23, 2012, at Spring Creek Cricket Field, in Brooklyn, NY.
The Queens Team #1scored 178 to 65. The MVP of the match was Randall Wilson of John Adams High School while the Best batsman title went to Ashan Riaz of Hillcrest High School. The Best Bowler of the competition was Zafer Yusef of John Adams High School.
The matches were played from 10 am and 1p.m. with the championship game held at 4 p.m. The Queens team #1 had advanced in their semi-finals match by defeating the Queens Team #2 by a score of 104 to 95 while the Bronx/Manhattan combined Team made the finals by defeating the Brooklyn Team by a score of 108 to 106.
