News Americas, HICKSVILLE, NY, Mon. Aug. 17, 2015: A Trinidad & Tobago man who shot and killed another 16 years ago will finally face murder charges in a Nassau County court house today.

Balkumar Singh, 37, was extradited from Trinidad to Nassau County to face a second-degree murder charge Friday.

Police on Long Island say Singh had been a fugitive from justice since fleeing to Trinidad and Tobago after allegedly fatally shooting 19-year-old Azbal Khan at the Masonic Temple in Hicksville at a wedding reception in June 1999.

They say he pulled out an automatic gun during the encounter and shot Khan multiple times before fleeing to his native land.

Singh was arrested by Trinidadian authorities in March this year but was only brought to the U.S. on Friday, August 14, 2015 to answer charges today.
